I got one on my list from Santa. This is the square type setup that you back under the implement then adjust top link.

Are these worth the time? Do you spend as much time backing up time and again to line up? Would it be faster to HEAV-HO the tail wheel on the bushhog, etc. as is the normal fashion 'round here?

Don't have enough tractors for all the implements so looking for a way to lessen some of the "grunt work" and save my back some. This is for Cat. 1 implements.

Just curious of your experiences. Pros, Cons?

They are the ducks guts. Once you get used to it, backing on to the impliment is no problem; aim the top hook at the top pin and make sure you're square to the impliment and you're in business. I've never had a problem with the extra 4 inches, but I have big stuff and run front weights anyway. Still have a few implimemts that won't take quick hitch, but I'll modify them eventually. If I need to remove it, I hitch it to an impliment, then disconnect the whole thing from the tractor.

This seems to be copying the old Case Eagle Hitch Idea. Back up under the pins, lock the hitches, fasten the top link and go. The trouble with the CEH was that the 3 pt lift arms didn't swing. I have 2 cases w/ EH and most of the time I like them but they are not for everything. This is probably a good compromise.

We've got two of them, one on our big tractor and one on our loader tractor. Anymore most big tractors come standard with them. I love our's but we do have a couple of things that won't fit on them, our disk mower and snow blower for example won't work with a quick hitch. The biggest downside I see to them is they make it a little more difficult to hook up pto shafts to the tractor.

ShepFl those Olivers you have should have the latch on the lift arm balls. They work sorta like the quick hitc.
The latchs are welded shut on my 2255 so I will add one of these but on the others (particularly without a cab) I just use the latches.

We had 6 of these hitches on the farm tractors back home. 4 of them were JD and 2 were CIH hitches. They all work wonderfully, especially if you have really heavy implements to hitch to. The top link may have to be adjusted as the others are saying. We were able to modify the all of the hitches on the equipment to solve this problem. Also, a little extra front weight will be necessary...

Bought my first one in the late 70s, second one a few years later. Used on three tractors- 4-6 bottom plows, 18 and 20 foot field cultivators. Would never go back to the old hookup. Can change implements in a few minutes without lifting anything. Don't use them on smaller stuff like brush hog, ph digger, blade, etc. I can move them by hand, but hooking up to bigger field equipment is a breeze with the quik-hitch. Just back, lift, latch, and go.

Shep, Hi, Been a while since I have visited with you. Anyway ..... .. My first Rodeo was with a JD Quickhitch was in the mid 70s on a 76 JD 4630 on 6 row equipment. There is NO heave ho on this size stuff to get it lined up, Either you get straight the first time or you don't get it at all without a Quickhich.
With.... just catch the top link pin with the hook on the Quickhitch.....lift up slightly and slowly....and let gravity do the rest. When the bottom pins are resting in the cradles....slap the lock levers over and off you go.
These should be standard equipment an ALL tractors!!! The only piece of 6 row that wasn't on a quickhitch set up was our IH Cyclo 400 planter. It was only used once / yr so we left it alone.
I prefer the Cat III set up. Not the Cat II or Cat III Narrow.
OBTW I am running a JD hitch on my 966. Smaller tractors well get along fine with a Cat II or Cat I unit. This little thing will take all the work out of hooking up to stuff. The only work will be the PTO shaft. Don't forget that this unit will move the load back about 7 ins. so you may need to add one more wt up front to counter the distance the load is moved rearward. This will be more noticeable on smaller tractors
Hope this help.
Later,
John A.

Works good on those Olivers ,take the spring off keeps the arms from floping around.I have one on my 1855 I can go from blade to bushhog to bale fork.Had it on my 8 row planter ,a little to much for the tractor when the box's were full.I noticed the top hook is adjustable up and down that would be good for cat. wide or narrow.Would like to have a top link cylinder that would make it better yet.

I ask the same question a year or so ago on here. I didn't like the idea of adding length which would affect the PTO shaft and the hydrolic lines. these guys convinced me I needed to buy more tractors. lets face it!!!!! you need more tractors

Dad had some on his tractors for a while. They are nice, but not the best for lifting heavy stuff. The pin offset puts the weight 3 or 4 more inches back. Had a 4 row cultivator that was fine but made the 806 real light in the front. Also not good for cultivating curves as the imp is 4 more inches back. Might want to check your mowers top link to see how well it'd work. Dad's 3 pt mower has a swiveling top link thing that would not work very well with the hook on a quick hitch. Depends on what imp's you have and how often you switch stuff. Nice idea, but I'm not real sure just how much time/back they really save.

I've got one on my 8N Ford, and another on my IH 424.

I really like them, but have seen posts by others who didn't.

One thing, the top link pin location is NOT constant on all implements, new and old. On some implements, the top link location can be changed, to make all the implements compatible with one setting of the top link hook on the quick-hitch (notice in the photo the extra holes so the hook can be moved up or down).

Some implements can't be easily adapted, so either you can't use them, or will need to relocate the upper "hook" on the quick-hitch every time you want to use that implement.

we had one in 1964 on a 4020

sad thing was the 1963 plow wouldnt work with it.. LOL we had to change hitch parts ( we did by getting a new plow...

for BIG STUFF they are a MUST... and 3 or 4 inches back is not going to make that much diff on the weight.. it does some but guys come on...1 weight on the front takes care of the distance. and that does help mudd wise as well as hooking up hydralics it can be really close to the tires with out the 4 inch back.
