my wife when we first got hooked up said that snow tires were no better then all season radial. you cant tell her anything to change her mind when has made it up. so i just went ahead an up a set on her astro van one day. wasnt very happy about it until the next snow. she came home an said she was sorry. said she couldnt believe the difference it makes. said she couldnt understand why i was so set on real snow tires on the cars, now she does.

Check out the Destination M/T by Bridgestone/Firestone. None better for traction.

Cooper or Dean Wintermaster plus studded, kind of noisey but excellent traction, going and stopping.

Talk to Tom about it... They are much more knowledgable about tires then Sears or Walmart.. They might be off brand a bit... You have a few miles on that truck don't you? I wouldn't spend the big bucks for it.. It is a dodge.. lol Dad may not appreiciate if you charge them though.. lol Even though it would be a tax right off.. The only people that can run studded tires in Illinois is my dad being a rural mail carrier.. Thats the only legal way

Call your local Firestone/Bridgestone dealer & ask for WINTERFORCE.It's a directional tire and looks like the good ol' snow tires.~brad

Here in Minne"snow"ta we can get tires at any local dealer that are suitable for snow or whatever.
Look in the yellow pages for a Goodyear or Firestone dealer. "Blizzak" made by Bridgestone is one style of tire specifically made for winter conditions with a softer tread compound; not good for susmmer highway use, however.
Your local farm store may also have a line of tires to fit your needs.
Don"t forget your shovel!

They even make them impregnated with sawdust or Garnet chips for better traction. They are hard to find in some places but they are available in that configuration. Check with your suppliers.

Earl, Where are you at in Illinois? You can buy them here in Springfield, they are very high priced compared to radials, but they can be got. Probably 25-30% higher than radials?

If you want to email me, i can check and see if my distributor has a dealer in your area, then I will let you know if they do. These people are pretty big in central Il, so they might have someone over there that can help you

Too find a "true" snow tire for a light truck is a challenge. These tires are usually going to be something like a BFG All-Terrain, or similar. You will usually have to pay a premium for these, but they can be used all year long. The Bridgestone Blizzak is not available in most LT sizes, nor do any other major manufacturers offer this style of tire in those sizes. If you can find a BFG dealer near you, ask for the Commercial T/A Traction. This is a very good option. Hope this helps. JohnG
