Put a new coil, points and condenser in my 8N last week and it ran fine until I revved the engine today and there was a cracking sound like an electrical short and the engine died. Now have no spark at the plugs and am mystified. Could I have done some damage to the regulator by suddenly revving the engine?? I cannot think of what else has happened - your help and experience will be greatly appreciated as we have snow coming tomorrow..... .....

Front or side mount?? As the other 2 have said are good places to start. You could have also broken the govanor gear which will also cause you problems like that. One of the gears in that area is a fiber type gear and if it brakes then you have a no go thing

check the distributor cap and rotor for cracks/breakage.

Try bypassing the ignition switch (hot wiring it). I had a problem with bad connections once and there was some sparking going on in my situation.
