I've been looking online, and can't find a definition or brakedown as to what the different categories are. I know I, II, III, and IV, I mean is it by horse power or PTO or 3 pt lift?
A little help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much.

The 3pt hitch is broken down into sizes, or catagories. Tractors are not broken into such classifications exactly.

Cat 0 is 'made up' and refers to lawn tractors, not standardized at all.

Cat 1 is the standard for old & smaller tractors.

Cat 2 is for bigger tractors, around 60 hp is when things start to change - more or less. Often there is enough slop or a built in ajustment to use cat 1 implements on cat 2, tho the fit isn't perfect.

Cat 3 is for bigger yet - over 120 hp or so - no set rules.

There is a cat3N (N= narrow) which has the pin sizes of a cat3, but the width & height of a cat 2 hitch. This is very handy, see more tractors set to cat3N than to cat 3.....

And cat 4 tends to be the hge 4wd tractors. Also a cat4N of course.

But the reference is to the size & spacing of the 3pt hitch.

Categories differ in the size of the pins, balls, and also vertical and horizontal dimensions of the 'triangle'. More hp and lift capacity means bigger dimensions.

Thats talking about the 3 point system and the size of the hitch pins. Under research & info on the left is a place called 3 point specs. Look there and it explains things better

Just a load of balls really!
Little ones for little implements on little tractors, bigger ones for ..... .and so on....
Basically as things have developed with 3ph, categories have gone up as size has.
Someone else can fill you in with actual diameters, loads etc.
