Just what do those # mean? Are the last two digits size or engine or what? I got aJ.D. "B" an d a A/C WD 45 I'd sell to get something newer. But I see 1700 series with larger engines than on say 3000 models and J.D. is confusing too. Havent found any listing to such yet. I'm 70 years old and would like to know before I die,Grin.

Good luck figuring out the number/lettering of tractor models!!!! :)

When Ford came out with their compact series of tractors - basically Japaneese tractors assembled in the USA - they used the 1200, 1300, 1700, etc. numbering. The lower the number, the smaller. The bigger the number, the bigger the tractor.

They were good, but basic. The next upgraded series of models were the 1210, 1510, 1710, etc. Little nicer.

Few years later they upgraded to the xx20 series. So, a 1700, 1710, & 1720 would be the same tractor, upgraded with a little better engine, much better hydraulics, a better front wheel drive setup, etc.

Did not realize thay made a 16xx series. I knew of the 12xx, thought all the others were odd numbers. Learn something new. :)

Ok, I am looking at a phamplet "New Holland 16 to 47hp Compact Diesel Tractors" which shows the following models: 1215, 1220, 1320, 1520, 1620, 1715, 1720, 1920, 2120, 3415.
The 1620 shows: 27.3 gross Hp, 26 hp net engine, 22 pto hp, hydrostatic, 3 cyl diesel, 81.2 cu in (1330cc), etc. This model was replaced with the 1630 which had the sloped front hood, boomer look.
What is your question?

no problem with the 1620, but would like to talk (the forum)in the future if a question or problem comes up. it seems that no one owns one of them in the group.

i also own a jubilee....there are a lot of folks out there that i talk to on questions.

thanks for your information.

Are you still looking for Ford 1620 owners? I have one, with a loader, mid-mount mower deck

I thought those numbers were 1320/1520 1720/1920/2120 in the 1990"s. In the mid 1980"s they were 1310/1510/1710/1910/2110. But not the 1st time I was wrong. Do you have a specific question or thinking of starting a new ford club. Grin

I have a New Holland 1630. Are you talking about New Holland or Ford?
