I have no experence with a tractor with ampli torc. What are the most common things that go wrong with it? I have a book that tells how to adjust the ampli torc. The tractor is a MM 335 and before I buy it I would like to ask those who have used one if they liked or hated the tractor. If I buy the tractor it would be used to maple sap for syrup and the wood to boil the sap.
Thank you.
John

I've had an MM Jetstar3 with amplitork for 18 years. It's always slipped in low range, so I only use the high range. Serves well enough. There is a sprag clutch that needs to be replaced but figure a budget cost of about $2000. Maybe more since I checked. The sprags keep the tractor from rolling back in forward gear with the clutch down which is very handy, for starting on hills, but I'm pretty cautious about trusting it completely. However, if I want to shift to neutral or reverse, I have to let it move forward a bit to take the pressure off so I can shift the gear. Otherwise, pulling back the A/T lever will also release the pressure.

I have 4 MMs with that ampli torc, I really like them, all in the 40 horsepower range, if the a/t slips in low, it will usually need some work, as a general rule they have already been adjusted plenty. Another thing to keep in mind is: NEVER use the low side until the transmission is warmed up, using it cold will help destroy it. I believe the 335 is the smallest model using the a/t. Is this one a utility model?

I have had a MM 335 since 1964 and can say it has been my all around favorite small tractor.Lots of torque.Never in all that time had any ampli torque problem, however have purchased three other tractors with AT.All of them were mistreated so have AT problems.I have not done any repairs yet because all work in low range.

Yes, it is the utility model with a loader mounted on it.
