Allan, I"ve got to know, what is your secret? How do get so luckey? I mean, all these deals just fall into your lap; tractors, balers, mowers, trailers, the combine, etc. Every time I buy something and think I got a good deal, turns out I upset the tractor gods and they make it allmost impossible to get the machinery working worth a dern. If you don"t want to tell my your secret, I understand, but send a bit of your luck my way. What"da say ol" buddy ol" pal?

Mornin' Rich,

No secret to it. I buy TOTAL junk that nobody else wants and just start fixin' just to prove to myself that I can still do it.

It's an "old man" thing. :>)

Allan

You must be a better mechanic than me. When ever I buy junk, when I"m finished working on it, it"s....still junk. Maybe when I get older, I"ll figure it all out. By the time I figure it out, I"ll probably have both feet in the grave. :)

I'll bet it has something to do with the fact he lives in the middle of nowhere and has no competition for obsolete but good equipment.

You and I, on the other hand, live in relatively population dense states where there is a lot of competition for obsolete junk ;-) Just look at the turn out for a relatively small auction in your area that has a 5000, 706, or 630 as the biggest, newest tractor... I couldn't believe the turnout at the last sale I went to over in Poynette, WI. The guy had a 60 and 630. None of his equipment(baler, spreader, disc, plows, mill, drill, planter, etc.) even had hydraulics. Musta been 500 people there!

My opinion, take it for what it's worth!

My father always said "Luck is where preparedness and opportunity meet."

I've never been prepared for anything.
