I would be very leary of putting anything in the radiator of a F12 to fix a leak. Theres no water pump to pump the stuff around and itll basically just sit there. Blocks can be repaired in the area which I think youre talking about pretty easily by a professional welder with nickel rods.

John,

This crack is on the inside. It is opposite of the spot that is always cracked, so welding is probably not a viable option. I was going to put in some of the threaded pins, but can"t find them. Some of the neighbors told me to put in the waterglass.

Thanks for the responses

Dan

Hi Dan,

You can get sodium silicate from any pharmacy, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc: why I don't know as it's egg whites and you usually have to ask for it. About $5/pint

Use about 1/8 pint while the engine is running and warm. Careful as too much will quickly plug up the cooling system. It will mix with green anti-freeze but takes less. Takes about 1/2hr of circulating to seal the pin holes in the head gasket.

How a person can tell if sodium silicate has been added, is around the the filler neck there will white crystals.

How to tell a blown head gasket is to look for black carbon floaters or foamimg in the water .

I think water glass was originally used to put in the chicken water to make the egg shells harder. Fred OH

Hi Fred,

That's a new one...LOL

I know it's used as a glue to seal a cardboard boxs.

Waterglass is sodium silicate.

A lot of stop-leak products, K&W Permanent Metallic Block Sealer, for one, contain sodium silicate as the active ingredient.

At the link below, in the "product" box, type in 401016-6 for more information.
