another huge pain in the behind waht do you do with the snow????? ??? illeagle to push it into the road let the county handle it. most of the tiem cant just push it onto the culdesack for residential. if you put it in their yard wherever you plow over the grass takeing the snow covering off the grass, next spring there will be a brown spot wherever you took the covering off. what do you do with it in a residential area? rural push it across the road into the ditch or enough drive to pile it up but in a residential area sometimes where to put it is a real hassle. can turn into a headache real quick esp when your truck goes down and you got people wanting to go to work they will call someone else and tell you wehre to go.

What do you have for truck and plow? Salt spreader? We usually pay about $45 for a pick up with a 7 -7.5 ft. straight plow. Add $10 for wings, V-plow another $20 or so. Salting capabilities increase pay again along with experience. Older trucks and equipment get less. Your local market also plays a roll. Many snow belt markets are saturated with plowers and I've seen prices in the low $30 per hour. You need to know what not only the contractor requires for insurance, but what his clients require. Price you insurance out for the winter and have the contractor estimate the hours you will be plowing and make sure you have plenty left for yourself, fuel, and repairs. Also check what hours are the contractor needs covered and about how many snow events per season. It's not easy to find my folks ready to hop in a truck at 1-2AM and spend 8-10-12+ hours plowing, get a few hours of sleep and do it all over again. Dependability is the name of the game, you don't get a second chance with snow. I checked out the Plow Cafe link, you will probably get better advice on Plowsite.com, it's more active and up to date. Good luck and if you have any questions, I'd bet glad to answer them for you.

$45 for a V is probably low. I'd be looking for $60+. Was this for commercial plowing or drives?

$75.00 - $115.00 per hour depending on where you are and how much snow you are pushing.

I have seen plows rip pipes off the sides off walls, snap off outdoor lighting and do alot of electrical damage. In the same large parking lot building I saw a contract on a guys desk for a one time plowing and sidewalk clearing and salting for eighty thousand dollars. One shot not the whole season.I guess if your making that much money you can afford to rip up some electrical work. Also seen the same outfit dump snow over a wall and crush 100 feet of chain link fence.I do my neighbors for ten bucks[reluctantly].

I plow with a 560 international or allis B and I charge 25 dollars for a driveway 15 minutes maximum..... If it takes more time I charge more.. Two years ago people plowed drives that didn*t get plowed till the middle of the season and I charged as much as 175 dollars for a 200 or so foot drive.... I live in the middle of nowhere and every body and his brother plows snow.... Talked to a friend of mine who plows in green bay wisconsin and he charges 115 dollars a hour.... Just remember when something breaks what it cost to fix.. good luck Dennis

If your paying for insurance, then I would say $50/hour. If you dont have insurance then I would say $30/hour or so. It only takes one boo boo on a job and get sued. Of course fuel costs money, your time is money, and repairs are money.

I used to do driveways awhile ago. before fuel went mongo and was getting 25 per driveway including sidewalks no salt. could make around 50 an hour if stops next to each other. problem is people want plowed right before they go to work right before they come home sometimes lagistics of stops might not work out. what put me out of business is plow gouged out a chunk of drivway about a foot by a foot. lady wanted me to repave her whole driveway . i did not have insurance the proper business permits to be plowing which you are supposed to have i repaved her drivway and lost my behind that year. also around her no, il not enoguh snow lately to make it real profitable unless you have big contracts with target walmart etc who usually pay a flat rate to ahve it done regardless of how much or how little it snows.
