Just got back from the hospital, I think the prayers are working. They took the tubes out this morning, breathing fine on his own, and no pain meds. since 9-10a.m. He"s been sleeping real good today, other than when the nurse came in and bugged him. Moving him to a reg. room tomorrow morning. We"re not sure how much of the accident he remembers. During one of the short times he was awake, he asked "how"s the truck look", and later, "how does the other car look?" We"re starting to wonder if a car cut him off or something like that. When I was leaving, the nurse was going to see if he"d eat some supper. He is still at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, probably will be for a while. Someone up above was watching out for him yesterday, think I"m going take a deep look into the good book and see if I can get along with my dad a little better. Thanks again for all the prayers, greatly appreciated. Rich

Sounds like the doctors are going to release my dad either today or tomorrow. He ate breakfast sitting up in the chair, and was able to take very short walks. I do like the nickname Rusty Farmall gave the intersection, Malfunction Junction. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts, Rich

Rich, Thanks for the update. Glad it was carrying such good news. Dont know what the problem was tween you and your dad but better to bury that, than him. Buy him a beat up old tractor and help him rebuild it. That will stop the other stuff from getting between you guys.

Rich,
We are rejoicing with you and your dads progress. You will never regret trying to get closer. (to him or the Lord) Overlook a lot of things if you must. Others overlook a lot for us. Blessings and prayers

Rich, Good news about your Dad, better news that you are going to try to mend some fences with him. I will continue to pray for y'all. I am soon to be 43 and my Dad passed in '03 and I miss him terribly. We had a good realationship, not as close as I would have liked but he came from a different era, where men didn't show or discuss feelings much. I know that he older I got the smarter and wiser HE got. Neither my Dad or your Dad was/is perfect, but he is the only one we have. Do whatever you can to make things good with him before it is too late. I can't imagine what the other way would feel like, it can't be nothin' nice. Loagn

Great news Rich. Having driven that mixmaster for over 13 years from Omaha to the east coast, I know just where he went off. You're right. He was very lucky. Thanks everyone for the prayers, and hope you can get reacquainted with your dad. Harley

Harley, I know the spot quite well also, My first trip out took me that route, and I almost lost it trying to make that bend. I nicknamed that exchange malfunction junction.
