I have a Fahr model KH40 Tedder. One of the inside rotors started leaking oil from the gear box. Does anyone know how to take the Rotor apart.

I just bought the same tedder at an auction four days ago - it has the same problem. How much trouble will I cause for myself if I replace the fill plug on the gear box with a grease fitting and just use grease?

There are roll pins that hold things in place. One pin holds the wheel assy. on and lets it swivel, another holds the casting that locks the wheel in position after you remove those there are shims and needle brgs. on the shaft, be sure to keep track of them, then the rotor should slide off.

Thanks Wrenchbender. On the center two rotors the wheels don't move they stay in line with the tedder. I did find a roll pin. When I removed the pin I expected the wheel assy to fall off, it did not. I applyed a little force but it did not move.

This is the pin under the rotor assy I could not find anything on top of the rotor. Should I apply heat to the wheel assy and try again or did I miss something?

Thanks
Phil

Sorry I wasn't much help, that model must be different from the ones I have worked on in the past,on those all the wheels swivel and you can angle them so as to throw the hay away from the fence on your first round. Heat may be needed to get it apart, check to make sure what you are heating is cast iron and not aluminum.Good Luck!
