I have a JD 60.I am getting oil leaking around the right hand spark plug hole, and it is oil fowling that spark plug, the oil actually leaks around the plug, even when its tight. I did a compression test, both cylinders are around 115lbs. comp. Do I have a broken ring, or a worn valve guide, etc? PLEASE HELP!!!!THANK YOU.

FIX IT QUICK! in reply to TIMBO, 11-03-2005 06:17:12
It may be an oil ring problem. I had one leaking oil like that, and apparently overlooked a loose spark plug long enough for it to burn a small channel in the spark plug threads in the cylinder head. A new spark plug didn"t help for long. I sold it.

Thank you for your input, I think I have a broken oil ring. It runs good, and on both cyls. But it burns oil on that cyl. only, I"ll take it apart and find out. THANKS AGAIN everybody.

If you have oil leaking from around the spark plug, the plug is not properly seated. The plug gasket could be no longer sealing or there could be foreign material on the head plug seat. The fix would be to insure the plug seat is clean, have a new plug gasket and torque to the proper specifications.

You may have stuck rings. If so its probably the oli control ring sticking.
