My mother was here today and told me something my brother told her. He was critisizeing, ya bad spelling, my buildings/sheds. Told her they where not made well and looked bad etc. Now this is from a guy around 57 years old, he lives with my parents and has no job or drivers liense. He uses one of my tractors to get from my parents house to my house. Bascly all he can do is tell her how bad I do etc. But when he needs help etc who does he come to, ME of course. My mom shut him up by telling him well there better then any thing you own. Guess at times I'd just like to hit him up side the head with a 2X4 but that would be a waste of a good board. Thanks

I kinda stay away from off topic stuff, but you made me smile. :)

Families are like that, glad your folks either see your side or walk down the middle. :)

The fellow is - oh, a word I can't spell - thinks you are better than him, & so he has to run you down a little to help build up his own self-esteem. Guess the next time he tried to talk you down, you can take it as a compliment. :)

From personal experience..... ..Waste that 2 X 4! Took a good cussing and fist fight match to get my brother to straighten up! he now has a good job, and his own home as well as a nice barn in the back yard!!!And HE asked ME to help him build it!

Sounds like you need to go to your mother's and remove the rotor from the distributer of that 8N as it's a part that's causing problems. Then take it home (without a loaner) to repair it. That could take a long time as you don't have it now any how. At your age "selective hearing" sets in. lol

Listen to BobMo. I was once like that to my brother in law. Now that I am in a more financial position I see it as a mistake.

May I respectfully disagree?

The feller is an A-hole. If you coddle 'em and cut 'em breaks cuz they're "disadvantaged", they have zero incentive to STOP being an A-hole. You just become an enabler and perpetuate the problem.

That's most of what's wrong with this country these days.

JMHO, YMMV.

Whats real bad about this is he is costing my parents $$ and not helping by tring to make any $$. He will not lissen to what we tell him and seems to think he knows it all. Sure glad I only let him use an 8N instead of one of my better tractors. Sure will not let him on my case 800 or my oliver super 88 he'd probably flip either one of them. LOL

I grew up with a brother & 6 sisters. The only thing my brother ever did to make me mad was die at 48 because I miss him terribly. My five remaining sisters (1 is gone) can have anything or all I have for the asking. Fortunately they are all wealthier than I, so have no need to ask.
I don't think your brother is jealous but has a very low opinion of himself and sees you as a reflection of what he'd like to be. He may realize its to late in life for him to achieve that so he attempts to run you down with demeaning statements. Try to be tolerant. He is apparently tortured by his own demons. As you can see what he says certainly isn’t going to make your mom (or anyone else) think less of you. Only you can do that. Good luck & be kind.

I got one of those too! My Brother is 49 and has had 2 DUI"s and 2 wives (but neither is his fault)likes to run me into the ground but is always looking for something when he comes over. Like Gloves or parts for his truck and when I tell him know he tells (get this) Mom on me and says I hurt his feelings.

Listen to your mother. She had it right. It sounds like your brother is jelous(sp) and just wants to upset you. I feel for your mother having to put up with him all those years. Just turn your back and walk away. P.S. Don't let him use your tractor.

I agree. There is always someone like that in every family. My sister told my parents she wanted her inheritance now because she may not outlive them. I can only laugh. It is frustrating.

Ya old, it's like the village idiot. Everybody's got one. I got one, but thank God she don't live anywhere near me. Haven't talked to her in about 20 years and really haven't missed a thing. She's just too dumb for words. Harley
