J-D Styled vs. Unstyled

Can someone please tell me the meaning of Styled and Unstyled when referring to J-D's???

If you"re familiar with Farmalls, think of the Regular, F-12, F-20, and F-30 as UNSTYLED. Then the letter series (A,C,H,M) as STYLED. Unstyled had open radiator, steering shaft out front, ect. With JD, the terms are used because the JD A, B, ect. were both UNSTYLED (early ones), and STYLED (later models). The Styled version had sheetmetal covering working components to give it a more "modern" look. Check "Tractor Photos" in left column of this page. Look for "styled" or "unstyled" A or B. The difference is very evident in these models.

Unstyled is at the top. Notice the more modern look to the sheetmetal of the lower, "styled" tractor.
