Looking for any input into the value of an International 504 Utility Tractor with a wide front, power steering, 3 pt, dual hydraulics good rubber and a 6' bucket and loader. I have no idea on the condition, except I have been told it is "very good". I need to make a long trip to the auction and would like to know what to expect or if it is worth my time. I have set a limit of $8,000 for the purchase of a tractor and loader what ever I get.

Well I want to thank all of you for the information. I knew going in that it was not worth $8, even with the newer WL21 loader. But went to the auction anyway with the limit of $5,500 in mind if it was very good. The thing went for $8,100 and even though the tires were fine, the rims had begun to rust (must of had fluid in them) and it was gas to boot.I"ll just keep looking and will find what I need at a fairer price than this one was!!!!! !! Thanks to all who replied again.

$8000 should get you something much newer, bigger or better than a 504. I got a good 684 Diesel with a 2250 Mount-a-matic for under that limit.

And I'd have sold it for 9 a couple weeks ago as I watched a 2002 very low houred Mahindra & loader go for 11 at auction.

Diesel more $ than gas. Row crops are going between $2,000 (good running) to $5,000 in almost perfect condition. #pt is worth more than Fast hitch, Tires as always are a big factor. An all hydro loader alone will set you back $1,500 to $2,000. $8,000 should get you the absolute best one to be found.

A 656D with a loader can be found in that price range and you would have considerably more to work with. I really like my 504 but it is a chore only machine for me. If you were to do real grunt work something more horsey might be a better choice. THe 504 gasser is a non slieved engine with not much room for boreing. That is a consideration too. The diesel is a better outfit in that regard.

I agree with Steve on this, $8000 should get the best one available. If it is as described it should be in the $4500 to $6000 range. Any running utility with live PTO and live hydraulics and a three point will bring $3000+.

I would say no more than $3000.00 if it is in good shape, Make sure and do a comp check , try all the gears,
