new to site but I thought I would post. 89 Honda accord got to acting up thing would not start without pouring gas down the intake were the air filter is located-then it would run rough and after it warmed up then it would run perfect-turn off the engine and it would start perfect even after 4-5 hours of setting but let it set overnight and no start. Now it will not start at all-any ideas-sorry for the off topic post_I am out of ideas.

I have an 88 Honda Civic that did something similar which caused me to do a lot of research. Apparently they were notorius for the ignighter in the distributor going bad, and the main circut under the dash. Two symptoms: would start and run but after warming up wouldn"t start again until cooling off - ignighter. Wouldn"t start when hot/cold outside (go figure) -Main Circut. Both these would push a code to the ECM (look under the passanger floor carpet for green flashing light, count the number of flashes). When the main circut was created they didn"t wipe the flux off the solders, they cracked. I took mine out and just remelted the solder - problem fixed. Look for threads at Hondahookups.com (they"re kinda hip-hop on the site but good info) just search for your problem. Ignightor pushed 16 code to ECM which says fuel injection, but it isn"t. It was a $45 ignightor. good luck, only hard part for mine was finding and getting the main circut out, tucked in under the dash - looks like a 1"x2" square plastic thingy. good luck.

Is this fuel injected or Carb ? We see a lot of Honda no starts due to bad ignition switch . Engine cranks ok,,but no spark . Very high repalacement item . Also replace tons of distributors of them . Do you have spark when cranking? If fuel inj , ,what is fuel pressure reading ? Timing belt is nother possibility .

Throttle position sensor (TPS) would cause this condition.~brad

Fuel problem. Either pump is losing prime or computer is reading pressure wrong. You need a manual to solve.
