This is an 89 with a 351 and it sits for extended periods of time. Well, I fired it up the other day and it's got a dead miss, and a pft, pft, pft sound in addition to a pecking that I'm pretty sure is coming from the left bank. I put about a half quart of A/T fluid through the intake with a squirt can and that never made no difference at all. Sure could use, and would appreciate any and all words of wisdom.
Thanks
Reido

If the lifter is stuck, and wouln't pump up, you are going to need replace it. On some engines you can pull the bad lifter up through the push rod hole. It takes a special tool that hooks into the lifter. I had a ford with a 460 the tool would not work, and ended up removing the intake manifold. Have fun, Stan

If you think the noise is coming from the left bank, start by popping off the valve cover, and take a look at what's going on under there, before you throw a bunch of "snake oil" at it!

Careful with the Rislone and an old engine!
Used it one time and ruined a tired but
very functional engine. 'Over cleaned and over loose!' Valve cover gaskets are pretty cheap compared to an engine swap.

I would remove the cover and see if a pushrod went through a rocker arm myself. They all do that, even the chevy's.

Or if the valve really is stuck the pushrod may be bent. I'd open it up and have a look.

I'm not familiar with this product. Is it a fuel, or an oil additive? Reido

Rislone is an oil additive, replaces one quart of motor oil when you change it. Wouldn"t hurt anuthing to use some Rislone, but in your case I think I would just remove the valve cover, squirt some penetrating oil on the stem of the sticking valve, and tap very lightly on the end of the stem with a small hammer, shouldn"t take too much to loosen it up.
