I have a John Deere 216 lawnkower and have instaled all new belts , the same way as they came off. However now the variable speed works great , but the blades do nor rotate fast enough to mow the grass. Does someone have any ideas as to how I can make adjustments to correct the situation ? Thanks to all for listening to my problem.

RAW, I once got my 216 back from the mower shop after having new belts, blades & deck adjustment. The guy told me he tried it out & it mowed nice.I got home, started out across my lawn, turned around to look...not cutting at all! After some inspection,I found he had the deck drive belt on the mower pulley reversed & the blades were turning backwards.Check yours.

stupid question first...are the blades rotating the right way, and installed correctly? if the 216 is like mine, you should be have a belt tensioner knob on the front that you tighten up to the spring and then back off...on my 112, i have to watch carefully, cause at some point in its life the front has been bent in so the tension got thrown off....hope this info helps, and is correct for you..... .
