Used a lot of kero over the years in diesels, either mixed in cool weather, to almost straight in real cold conditions. Only had a diesel react badly once to cold, and don"t want to go thru that again. A diesel clogged with parafin is no joy, especially miles from home, and help.

Back in the day, when diesel was cheaper than kerosene (ha ha), I would run it in those job site torpedo heaters. Works great and really not a lot dirtier, and it seems to put out more heat.

Except for the possibility that the kerosene will not adequately lubricate the injector pump, kerosene will work fine in a Diesel. But the BTU per gallon in kero is less than for #2 fuel oil. So the engine power output will be slightly reduced. In an emergency, a tank of kero with a little two-cycle oil added should be fine for the injector pump.

If you wanted to compare kerosene to something it is more like jet fuel than it is diesel.
Kerosene is cleaner and drier than diesel.
The drier part is what kills a diesel motor.

the differance is that kerosens is a clear drier fuel and diesel has parafine that is what clogs your filter when it gets cold . but you could blend it 60-40 60 being kero and not have any problems but haul the kero home in cans don't pump it into tank at station burnt many a gallon in a truck many times .

Not sure what state your in but in MN farm diesel is dyed red for off road use only. You pay no road taxes on it and you pay a $1000 fine if the DOT finds it in a road truck. You pay state and federal taxes on the road diesel and use it in any road truck. Kerosine is used for home heating and is refined differantlly than diesel and cannot be used in a diesel engine.
