Need Help. Bought an old 610 bobcat with the v4 wisconsim motor and it wont run quite right. It Idles great and starts no problem. Will idle for about 20 minutes before it kills. When I ope it up it runs for about 40 seconds before it kills like I just shut the key off. I checked the filter,(actually I just bypassed it quick cause I did not have new filter), all the lines are clear, It has mechanical fuel pump and it pumps fuel awesome, line between pump and carb is clear. I'm assuming carb is fine cause it runs good for a while. So then I thought maybe the coil, so I borrowed the coil off my 630 case and it still does the same thing. Any Experts that can give me some other Ideas? Thanks in advance. - Josh K

Had the same thing on my swather, took the cooling shroud tops off an started it up. Blew stuff EVERYWHERE. Mouse nests.

Some Wisconsins have a hi-temp limit switch on the cylinder head shroud that can go bad and act like this.

Yup, those with aluminumn heads I believe? Happened to my uncle's swather, threw the switch out & it ran great for years.

It could be a sticky needle valve in the carb, gas trickles through for idle, but not enough flow for full throttle once the float bowl empties, it shuts off.

I had a wisc that acted the same way. I put 2 sets of points & cond in it & I replaced the coil. Every time it would die it didn't have spark. If I used the points file just a little it would run a while again. A old friend that ran a shop over 50 years came down & brought NOS points & cond , same thing. We couldn't think of anything else to do so we gave up. A couple days later he called & said put that back in the shop. We took the plate out of the dist. that the points & cond fasten to, sanded the edges and the dist where it fits in. When we put it back together it never quit again. It was loosing ground for the points

had same thing happen on IH pickup truck. Wire going out of the distributor wore thru insulation & shorted out against the plate. After it got cold, it started right up, ran 20 minutes & shut down.

I agree that the condensor could be temperature sensitive.

I doubt if this particular item is you problem, but I'd check the gas cap vent to make sure it is open.
