Good Question

Just watched the live interview with the LA General, who is asking for suggestions as to how to get fresh water to approx. 2000 head of cattle stranded by brackish flood waters.
When you stop and think about it, that is a tough problem.
Hope someone can work it out!

Our cows used to forgo drinking fresh water in the water cups in the barn in favor of dirty, algae and duckweed covered swamp water, with manure and urine. They"d practically run down to the swamp in the pasture when released from the barn.

They should be able to bring in water troughs with Chinook helicopters and sling load water in the drop containers that they fight fires with. They could easily bring in a dozen 2000 gal. folding tanks like rural firefighters use. I just got back from there and there were helicopters of all types down there, I even saw one Sikorsky Skycrane flying around. All they need is a grid coordinate.

I've read a study that cattle can drink water that isnot really top notch and still be ok

I know my cattle drink thier water in the winter from the runnoff from where thier hay and feed troughs are placed -- they even drink right out of our septic tank

I dont know if its salty water they are worried about

If that kind of water is all they have I guess they will drink it. I know they can eat really bad hay, but I think cattle should have good water if possible. Stan
