That's a lot, but somehow it doesn't surprise me. First question I was going to ask was if that included a new tire. Seems to me than in my area, a service truck is probably about 70 an hour plus mileage..... put a stupid yokel on the truck that knows about as much about changing tires, or less than I do, and the time adds up pretty quick. I think the last repair I had done for me in the spring cost over Cad $200 including a tube, unload and reload. That was in THEIR shop. No more. I'll fight with the tire now. It isn't that much work.

Had a field flat this summer, no fluid. over $200.00 in labor plus tube and boot. Tire is split wide over the boot so will order two new and replace them. First I am going to get a Bead Cheata, Link or similar. would get a pnuematic or hydralic if I thought I would always be at the shop and could afford it. Look up that page at gemplers and the cheta(cheata ?) Now to find some place to get tires reasonable. Was told I could get chinese made for about 4 to 500 apiece now. No thanks.

I shopped all over Miller Tire, Millersburg Tire etc. Best price I found was at the local garage. He got them same day Firestone 12.4x38 and 5.00x16 and I didn't have to pay shipping like I would have with the rest. Cash and Carry!!
I mount my own tires

In all of the mining buisnesses, there is a large tire shortage for haul trucks and loaders. Some equipment is setting on blocks waiting. This has been going on for 3 months that I know of. Poured concrete the other day, the driver said there was a rationing of cement, that I would have to wait they recieved thier next shipment of cement to finish pouring the rest of my floor. You guys know the rest. Larry

I guess he figured he had a captive customer,as you couldn't wait and shop around. I also guess your lucky the EPA or someone didn't stop by and fine you for some silly thing like spilling fluid or blocking the road etc.

Maybe a little high, but if he came right out??
Two years ago I waited a day for one 18.4-34 all done, no fill, in my yard, $502. Week later came out and did the other $506. Jast a tad over a grand for both. Did the fronts myself 2 tires and tubes just at $225. Ended up with $1200 rubbber on a $1000 tractor.

BTW I got a look at the price sheet for different tire sizes when I was getting the fronts. 18.4x34 were either number one or two on price $380 something carry out back then.

Put 2 18.4x34"s ,loaded, on two years ago and price was close to $1500.00. That was in my yard, new tubes, no extra calcium, service charge, travel time and mileage. Goodyear service truck in Canadian funds. Just wait til high petroleum prices get into the tire system!

Nebraskatire.com price on their overstock and blem list is 18.4 x 34 $285 And I suppose list price is significly higher. Then you gotta add a tube and at least $100 for a service call. But yeah, sounds like you paid plenty. I would have expected the bill to be $500-600

Did he put 2 new ones on? Just had some 15.5-38's put on my Ollie 1600 this early spring and I think it cost around $7-800(no fluid). For some smaller tires on our 165- 14.9 28 sound right? a few years ago. It was about $600 w/ fluid, but they were being replaced before the tube blew so no fluid was lost.

Gonna have to get some 18.4-38's pretty soon for our 1855.
