Boss man at work gave me a Sthil FS 72 edger that he had taken to the dealer shop and they told him,"it doesn't have enough compression to crank". They talked him into buying a new one of their four stroke or what ever the new series is. It had a spark, but would not pop even with 2 new plugs and gas poured directly in the carburetor. Their statement was suspect due to the fact it had a good bounce when you pulled the yo-yo string. Took it home and checked the compression and it had 95# at cranking speed, but still would not pop even with gas poured ito the plug hole. Checked the exhaust port to make sure they weren't plugged with carbon, and took carburetor off to check for restriction there. It was firing when you pulled it vigorusly, but on closer inspection it was not firing at slow cranking pull speed. On a wild hair I opened the gap up between the flywheel and the magneto lamentations since they were almost touching and it cranked right up. Funny how the compression was no longer a problem when the timing got nearer right. Now for the question! Can anyone tell me the proper air gap for the flywheel to coil and the spark plug gap, and also the fuel mix ratio? How good is this edger? anybody out there running one? Is this a commercial grade or home owner grade? It is in good condition and has a lot of life left in it.Have got to get a book for it now. Gene Davis

Stated the model wrong. It is an FC, not FS.
