Interstate 45 bumper to bumper. What is normally a 2 hour drive from Galveston is now 12 hours. It's hard to evacuate 5 mil. people. This one is bigger than the one that hit N.O.. Announced at 1510 central time.

Evening Guys, Well Texas in the cross-hairs of this one! Will probabilly make land fall near Matagorda Bay, as a Cat 4... Will probably run a line from Victoria to about 40 miles East of Austin. And still being a Cat 1. if the computer models hold as they are now and that is pretty much what it looks like. Not a pretty pic here with the influx of folks from the coast, The major Austin City Limits music event too, OBTW they will not cancel,or postpone! So There are no Motel/Hotel rooms to be had. And that is true just about anywhere here in Central Texas. At least the officials have started the evacuations and There won't be the C.F. that occured in N.O. So loss of life will surenough be small. We will hunker down here and see what happens. Since we are still on the less sever back side of it. All prayers are garnered and gleaned for protection and deliverence from this tragic event. Thanks, Ya'll!
John A.

John, I know what C.F. stands for. LMO

And, believe it or not but "hunker down" is in the dictionary. Todays trivia.

Would appreciate your input on my planting question on Tractor Tales.

Thanks,

Mark

You know this is major when a Texas Aggie game is moved. Going to my first game on a Thursday. Classes cancelled for Friday. My home is near Brenham, so I am going home Friday morning to batten down the hatches and sit. Brenham's motel rooms are full up from people leaving, so I guess it should be safe there. Dow Chemical moved a bunch of there equipment to the Washington County Fairgrounds. Lets just pray for those in its path.

Mark my words, when this is all over, because everyone was well prepared and the evacuation was done much better than the last hurricane that hit New Orleans, "our big mouth friends" and the media will be saying that the only reason that this happened is that Texas is Bush's home state and therefore he cared much more for the Texans than he did for the poor people of New Orleans. THEY will find a reason to blame Bush no matter what happens!

I am ready. Getin out is the problem. I lived through Alicia no problem but I ain't gonna push my luck no futher. It's taking the same path as Camilia did in the early part of the centry. Problem now, more people and oil refineries. One thing though, the news media is making sure everyone knows to get out; not like it was in N.O. where they waited too late. Mayor says if you live in a low lying area , you should evaucate , well that should cover about all of southeast Texas. Tommorrow I'll cut a trail even if there ain't one.
