I saw a motor patrol in the photo ads of this site. I think they are neat.

Only use Windex from the pump type bottle, NEVER the aerosol can. Hard to believe that you put that on first but it's very forgiving and works great. I usually trim my decals back a bit to eliminate the extra edge from the Mylar but you'd better have a new pair of scissors, a STRAIGHT edge and a GOOD (read brand new) exacto blade. Unless you're sure of what you're doing, maybe don't do any trimming this time.

I just put some masking tape on to mark the area I want them to line up to then peel them and stick'em no prep on new paint.

Are the decals mylar (sticky on one side) or are they the old water dip (dip them in water so they slide off the stiff paper backing)? If it is the mylar decals, spray the area well with Windex so you can put the decal on and "slide" it around to get it perfect. The Windex will evaporate after a period and you can go back and press the decal on more securely. If it is the water dip versions, get the area good and wet and take your time to get the wrinkles out. This type LOVES to stick to itself, so I keep a sharp pointed knife handy to help seperate them again. Don't let the area get too dry - you want them to slide around, so you may have to keep applying water to the area until you are satisfied. Once they are perfect, just leave them alone till they dry fully.

I have not had to prep new paint, and the decals stick very well.

Good luck,
Dan

Well if this helps they have a paper backing and when you remove the paper they are sticky. So I guess they are the mylar type, Right. Thanks

You are correct. Use the Windex method - it will not take the sticky off, it will just allow you to slide the decal around and get it perfect. The next day when the Windex evaporates, it will be stuck solidly in place, just press it down real good and be done with it.

Not in this case, when I got this one I also got this tractor so she wants it looking good as much as I do. Its a 1947 Allis WC Speed Patrol. I'm not really putting on the right decals but close, couldn't afford $100 for the correct set. So I went with a set for the Allis WC tractor instead.
