Wayne2, Is that the NE corner of Wa state? If so we are almost neighbors. Priest River Id and it gets a bit nippy here when it gets down to minus 24. Around here we use the fiberglass batting so the underneath can breath. Lay 4 mil plastic over your crawl space to keep the moisture at a minumum and have good venting. The styrofoam would keep your moisture trapped but would work well in the garage against the door.

Wayne,

Small potatoes. Forget the house and start worryin' 'bout the tax collector. That's where your problems lie. :>)

Where at in eastern NE? Yes you can over insulate and cause condensation and other problems. Also - over insulating can actually be COLDER than the proper amount. Insulation needs air pockets to work properly. A little extra (installed proper) won't hurt, but it's a fine line.

I know this sounds crazy but check out a mobile home supply house and see what they use. You want something that will insulate and breathe at the same time. Lest the floors may get too much moisture and mold or rot or what ever could be a problem.
