Every notice that there is never any weather west of the big river? Never.

But, let it start to sprinkle in Nowhere, NC and every reporter and his one-legged dog are there, braving those terrible elements, all decked out in their latest foul-weather gear to make sure ya know every gory detail.

Just once, I’d like to see ‘em stand out in an inch-sized hailstorm. :>)

Allan

Hey Allen NE, if you want those pesky weather bugs you can have'm!!! I think I speak for most everyone here in North Cakylacky and South Cackylacky on that point. Our coast lines have been weathering hurricanes and storms for hundreds of years, and yes some are worse than others, but the weather jerks always, and I mean always over dramatize the situation. If the weather is so bad, and the wind is sooo strong then why is the dumb fool standing on the beach reporting live, while people are all around going about their everyday routine?

Now Allen:
There is weather west of the big river.
Mt St Helen
Yellowstone wild fires
Rain and mud slides from Calif.
ect ect.

I just hope you are not comparing your inch-sized hailstorms to that sprinkle that came through my back yard a few weeks ago.

Granted all tropical storms will be extra big news for the rest of this year because New Orleans is fresh in every ones minds.

Hi Allen, I agree with You on these damn Weathermen, but got to disagree with You on one point! I live in the area that took a hit from this storm and belive me, it was no small thing! This storm moved so slow that we really got hammered! About 10" of rain the last two days! Still raining now! Winds are down to 20-30mph! Belive Me, That's getting old too! Last night the eyewall of this cat 1 passed directly over us and took about 6 hours just for the eyewall to pass! Would have been better if eye passed because then we would have had a couple of hours of calm instead of max winds! Hit 96 mph 3 miles up the rd at airport but was 80 plus for most of the time! Made Me rethink strategy of riding out storm! Did just get power back little while ago! Luckily, haven't heard of any deaths yet so keep fingers crossed! Did look like lot of crop damage, friend of mine was having a good year for his corn & soybeans, fields pretty much flattened! All in all, 'cept for the mess of clean-up, I didn't fare too bad, get a chance to see more tomorrow, didn't wan't to join the other rubber-neckers and get in the way of the utility and emergancy crews! Later! Scott

And besides that----IT'S ALL PRESIDENT BUSH's FAULT!!!!

When I was a kid and I used to complain to my Grandfather about how hot it was, his standard reply was: "What do you expect? It's July!" (or August, whichever the case)

I get so sick and tired of hearing about how it is "hot" in New York in July, or it snowed in Bahston in January. Why should I give a S^^t, and why should we feel sorry for them in the first place. I remember several years ago when over 10 thousand head of cattle froze to death in SW Kansas, did that ever make the national "news", you have got to be kidding.
Just like the hurricane coverage, it all happened in New Orleans, barely one peep about Mississippi, or the working people who lost their property.
But the same thing happens locally, the weather "person" dances around, smiling like an idiot, and in reality, couldn't tell you the weather if they were outside standing in it. All they worry about is having their weekend ruined. Does anyone think that the morons on KETV cares about what happens in Superior, or Chadron, or the clone on WFAA know or care where Bangs or Itasca is, or your own local clown cares about Podunk or BumF&&k.

Well, I'm over in the peidmont region of NC & I wish some of those clouds would come this way. Get tired of watching those news guys talking about how much damage thats been done & the only picture they show is the same snapped telephone pole. I kinda get tired of watching the news anymore, not enough time anyway.

thats waht got me we could be having a drought as did this year and were blessed to find one drop of rain and they complain about it cause its on saturday. they have no consideration for farmers no one does. look how they literally flip you off when you slow them down 30 seconds. also they want it clar so they can go play golf on the nice green grass what makes the grass green????? the dreaded rain they never want

Not so much the rain, as the water out of the aquifer that the city has priority on. San Antonio screwed agriculture years ago when they decided the water parks, golf courses, and tourist attractions took precedence over agricultural use. Then cities like Dallas want to come way out in the hinterlands and take away the local water rights. Luckily we have a ground water district that is supposed to prevent this kind of takings, but I doubt if the local water district would stand a chance in either the legislature or the courts when push comes to shove.

Hey Allan, don't you know that this area is the great American wasteland? Nobody lives here, nothing to do here, ugly, no rain, cold winters, nothing exciting...just keep telling everyone that, keeps people from moving in!

You know what the only thing cities are good for? Keeping people from living in the country! As far as I'm concerned, someone else can have the east coast and most of the west coast. Been to New York once and Washington DC once. I'm done, the rats can have the "great cities"...

that hail storm we had last year would have been a good one for"em to stand in..wasn"t real big,but it was 6"-8" deep around tulsa.. looked like christmas in July.. Your sure right Allan,if it ain"t on the coast it doesn"t seem to matter..

Allan:

You mean there is a state west of Iowa?...

Sorry the Smart A$$ bone got the best of me...

I think if it doesn't happen on the east or west coast, it doesn't matter much to the networks.

Harley:

Now how much land did Allan get... a 320... sounds like two 160 acre homesteads...one for him and one for the wife. That other problem with no wheels turning... maybe thats an old county ordinance out there, you can only farm with horses...

Sorry Allan... I started it but Harley egged me on...

What always gets me is they talk about how dangerous it is with all of the flying debris blowing around and the Vanity freak is standing in it with no Safety glasses or hard hat on. I guess we are just supposed to take their word for it while they keep their hair out of their faces.
