Given the recent posts on high fuel prices, biodiesel and cats, I thought it appropriate to post a link to this article, which brings it all together.

Once again, the Germans are light-years ahead of us.

It's been debunked.

Darn, debunked story, I was hoping for something cheap to make my Cummins "Purr" like a kitten. Van

Some of the larger rendering companies have rendered pets for years, along with their other blend of input materials, butcher shop scraps, etc., and the output product is tallow, which can be used as a feedstock for biodiesel fuel. There is also a company in Missouri that makes turkey guts into a distillate fuel resembling diesel, this was written up a couple of years ago in a science magazine, "Discover", I think.

heck, anything with a fat content that can be boiled down. But I'd draw the line at skunk, I'd sure hate to follow a truck that has been burning skunk-based biodiesel.

The same article said that if the 200lb operator accidentally fell into the machine he would come out the other end as 30 lbs. of diodiesel.

I have seen a lot of petroleum production units, but a human body is 90% water ,so how could it become biodiesel. You guys are getting a bit out there. Why doesn't someone process the peat bogs in around the UK. They have been burning the stuff for years.

That can be done. They can use the same process they used to run cars on wood during World War II. If you look at old pictures of European cities of the time, you wil see cars with a contraption on the back, that is a destructive distillation apparatus that they used for wood to turn it into a fuel gas. ANd I am sure that in theory, it would work on peat as well.
