Finished the loan papers this morning and bought my truck just before noon. It"s a 1996 Ford F250, 4wd, auto, with the Powerstroke diesel. You know how hard it is to find a reg. cab and long box these days? Getting the loan was a pain with no credit. Now I need to get a skid loader to drag behind it :) Thanks for all the advise I got in my earlier posts.

Now I'm jealous!!! that's almost what I want, I like Stick also but I've only ever seen maybe 5 deisel/stick combo's. Right now I got an '88 F150, 300 w/ Mazda 5 sp. Tranny, 2 wd. I've got the slower gearing in mine but it pulls 16-18 mpg.

Hmmmm I ordered out a '96 F-250 4X4 PSD 5-speed, Reg. cab XLT W/3.55 Traction-Loc gears, brite red W/Alcoas and waited 13 weeks for it back in the spring of '96. I semi-retired it about two months ago with 288,000 highway miles on it, still looks showroom new. Sorry but it's not for sale. But I know where to take it now when I am ready to sell it. My Buddy who lives in Guttenburg, IA. says good "Farm Trucks" sell good in NE Iowa.

I traded a "92 F150 300 w/ E4od auto trans 4wd. Keeping my "91 Dodge Dakota 4 banger, w/ 5 speed man., 2wd because it gets good mileage, 24mpg on the average.

there's just something about those old 300's aint there? They just run forever! They've also got lots of torque. Mine has somewhere around 170,000 on it now and doesn't burn much/any oil. Still the original clutch too.... Donovan from Wisconsin

The only oil my 300 leaked was because the plastic washer around the drain plug was cracked. It was a good truck, but allways wanted a diesel. Rich

Mine leaked about a quart of oil a week for about a month, but that was because I started picking at the rust on the oil pan. I replaced the oil pan and now it hardly looses any! Go figure.... I managed to do it w/out pulling the engine, just had to loosen the mounts and jack it up as high as it would go into the firewall. From what I"ve heard you gotta pull it if it"s a 4x4....

Great truck, always my choice. I just wish you could have paid cash seems everybodys in a bind right now. I prefer the auto trans myself over the standard so I don't spill my coffee.

Rich:

Hey congrats on the new truck. I think you will love it. Loads of power, should get pretty good mileage also. Now if I could just find a cheap (good) set of 3.55 gears for mine, I could be getting good mileage also.

If you want me to, I could check the junkyard that's just north of my dad's, see if they have anything in stock. Let me know if you want me to ask them. Rich

Yeah, I forgot that bit of info. Mine has the 3.55 rear end in it. Drove it from Indianola to Des Moines and the gauge didn"t move a whole lot. The more I drive the truck, the more I like it. Still prefer the manual though....Rich

After reading your post down the page a bit, I thought, "I"m happy I bought this truck before Allan caught wind of it!" I like the looks of this body too, just looks like it wants to work. Rich
