I inherited a 4 gang, 7 foot wide drawbar pulled disc harrow. It's the type used primarily for leveling ground. All is functional but all is badly worn. I want to restore if possible. No name on harrow. Some discs have like a two inch wide plate mounted next to the convex side. Many of thes plates are bent (from use) away from the discs. What are these plates called? Where would be a good place to start looking for new blades? No rush as this will be a winter project.

37 Chief is correct on the scrapers. If you have any sticky type soil you'll need them. As for parts, the first place I would head for would be Fleet Farm but you may not have those stores around you. A good big farm implement dealer should be able to help. I believe JD sells parts for non-JD equipment. Some of those parts (disc blades, etc) are probably common with something currently being sold. A few telephone calls might do the trick.

I think The parts you are talking about, Are called scrapers, these keep the damp ground from building up on the disc blades. Without them, you will experience what is called disc blades balling up.The damp dirt will be the same height as the blades. Not fun to remove the dirt. I usually have a crow bar for this, and rocks that get caught inbetween the blades.Your local tractor parts supplier should carry the blades. Stan
