I haven't heard much about the impact of Katrina on the ag sector in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Surely cotton harvest begins in late August and early September, and I believe there are lots of acres of corn and soybeans, as well as rice and sugarcane, cattle, hogs, and a big poultry industry. I have to think there are a lot of farmers who are hurting from this catastrophie. Just don't hear much about the farmers on the evening news. I feel for them.

A friend called me yesterday. He asked me if I wanted to see something that would make me puke. I told him that he had asked a loaded question. He had gone up to his corn field to take a moisture sample and 3/4 of it was laying on the ground! Way up here in TN the wind had laid it down. It looks like a bomb had hit it.
