Wow! What a day. I don't know which was better, the 60 bottom plow pulled by 3 steamers or 4 1/2 hours of tractor pulls.

Son talked me into going Saturday. Talked to people from Tx,Ms,PA,Ok. Must have been a thousand golf carts and ? See why they had them now. Some people have a way to much time and talent, let alone $$. Lots of tractors. Did not see a JD tent. How many people were there Saturday?

Yes is was a Great Day.

I was in the tractor ride with my Farmall H and White WB.

I will try to post a picture of us leaving the University of Illinois campus in Urbana. If you can't see it, look in the Tractor Photos.

Dave, how much of the Air Force base is left out there? I was born there. I've always wanted to come out and see the place, Dad got transferred to another base after 9 mo. Is that show the same time every year? That would be a great excuse to get up there.

There is still quite a bit of the base left. They turned it into a general aviation airport. There is a museum on the field in one of the big old hangars. There are a lot of old aircraft still sitting around. There is a KC-97 sitting out by the road and many other old birds as well. The old officers quarters was made into a motel. Some areas of the base are kind of run down, others refubished nicely.

The tractor show was called "Half Century of Progress." I think it is every other year and this year it was held on the base. I thought about flying the plane into the show but I'm glad I didn't. Just too much going on. Some people did fly, though.

Lot's of Farmalls, Deeres, even quite a few Molines, AC's, and Olivers. There was a turbine powered Ford that was pretty wild. One guy was driving around a Titan 10-20. It is a pretty good show.
