the books say "use the correct oil" but i haven't found what is correct. i inherited a 53 naa and am working to get it back in running order. it has the upgrade piton type hydraulic pump. what types of oil do i use for the hydraulics, transmission and rear end ?? each ford dealer tells me something different.

You can use 134-d oil in all three sections (differential/hydraulic/tranny). But, I put 90w GL-1 gear oil in the differential and tranny sections and 134-d (20w oil) in the hydraulic sections like the operators manual says.

Good luck with the tractor,
Dan

thanks for the info dan. i did buy the hy-trans 134 today at a walmart and it works fine. i also put it in the tranny, but will continue to use the heavier gear oil in the diff. i have the owners manual,( bought on-line ) and a shop manual, but neither of these state which type of oil to use, they simply say " use the correct oil " which i wasn't
but i'm squared away now.
