The dealer we used to get our two cycle oil from went out of business but we want to keep getting this type of oil.It is The Pro MIX multi-ratio 2 cycle oil made by Pure Lube.Says it's made in San Pedro Ca 90734.I can't find an email address and a guy I called won't return my messages.Do any of you use this oil,and if so where have you been getting it?Thanks for any help on this matter. We use it on 50/1,32/1 weed eaters, blowers, and chainsaws with no problems for a long time now. Thanks

Don't use two cycle oil for water cooled engines such as outboards in chain saws. Oil that will lube and burn clean in a cool running water cooled outboard. Will not lubricate a hot high HP chainsaw engine with little bitty lightweight cooling fins. Amsoil makes four different kinds of two cycle oil to best suit each type of application.

I bought some at Lowe's not too long ago..do you have Lowe's home improvement stores in your area?

But, like Redmud said, they all seem to work well enough for me. There are folks who will tell you all sorts of disaster stories but for the last 35 years, I have used any 2 cycle oil available in my chainsaws, weedeaters, outboards and lawnboy mowers with no ill effects whatsoever. The new squeeze bottles are handy to use, but i can't say the oil is all that much better. I have bought and used Pennzoil, Valvoline, Havoline, LawnBoy, Homelite and Stihl branded 2 cycle oils and all evidently work. I've never had an engine failure, fouled plugs, clogged exhausts from using these oils interchangably. My current outboard is a 5 horse 1951-53 Evinrude, I'm on my second Lawn Boy in 30 years, same Stihl 028 bought in 1981 and my fourth weedeater. The machines that were replaced wore out in the other areas...but the engines still ran fine. I always figured if outboard oil was sufficient for a $5000 150 horse boat motor, it would be fine in my $89 weedwhacker. So far, my theory has proved true.

Most of my equipment calls for 50:1 ratio.
Yesterday I bought a Weedeater brand hedge trimmer (Half price @ Wallyworld- $65.00, check it out!). However, it calls for 40:1. Do I need a second gas can mixed at 40:1? Is the 50:1 I have mixed too lean for the Weedeater?

I won't tell you what ratio to use because everyone has opinions on this, but I only have one gas can for my 2 strokes. And only use one ratio for all. Works for me.

Jak, I don't know where you will find the Pure lube. But I don't think you will have any problems with any of the two stroke oils, I have two stroke engines, and use whatever the parts house or hardware store has at the time, and I have never had a problem doing it this way. But only in my two strokes. Car's, Trucks, and tractor is a different story.
