I've got what appears to be gasoline in my oil. What's the cause and what's the solution ????

More than likely rather than gas in the oil you are getting hydralic oil in it. common problem form the o'ring or sela (depending on pump vintage) leaking hydrlaic fluid into the crankcase. easy to check, simply check fluid level in TC unit. Repair involves removing pump and replacing seo or orings as needed.

Mine had a little gas in the oil from 2 sets of horribly damaged rings, bad timing and a high float level. I'm thinking if the rings are bad enough for gas to get by in any quantity, you should see an obvious problem by checking compression.

We have a well-used 3.5 Briggs with the tank below the carburetor and it mixes gas with the oil. MY assumption, being tank is below carb and it is pumping only what fuel it needs to the main (and only) jet of the carb. is that the compression rings are worn and as it runs the fuel/air mix is being blown past the rings in to the crankcase, where the fuel condenses in the oil.

On the Cub the carburetor hangs below the intake manifold. Fuel would have to flow up into the manifold, then up through the intake passages to even get to the valve guides, much less into a cylinder. Long before that happened the engine would be hopelessly flooded with no chance of firing due the rich mixture. The carburetor has a drain vent on the very bottom so that a stuck float or leaking needle would dump the fuel on the ground. It would help me for these other folks to explain how the gasoline can get into the crankcase on a CUB. Certain other tractors, sure. But this question is about a Cub.

The gas tank is higher then the oil pan and the needel valve is not doing it's job . I have seen this many times i have even seen the air filter full of gas. .

Change the oil and filter. Given the fuel system configuration of the Cub, I see no way for gasoline to get from the fuel system into the crankcase except as small amounts of unburned fuel during running.

Probably a carb problem as in float bad and or needle and seat problems. 2 way to fix rebuild carb and or shut off the gas every time you shut it off
