flexible exhaust hose

I need to find a way to get rid of groundhogs under the barn where flares/sulphur sticks could start a fire. Supposedly the idea below won't.

One idea is to attach a flexible exhaust hose to the exhaust pipe. I'm wondering if the hose below--designed for a car exhaust from autobarn.net--would work. It handles temps up to 600 degrees F. I've no clue as to how hot a tractor exhaust pipe could get.

"Designed to withstand the rigors of automotive shop service, CRP's automotive shop exhaust hose has a patented construction that maintains 250% elongation and 1750 lbs. tensile strength even after crushing by a car. It will maintain flexibility and durability while withstanding exhaust pipe and gas temperatures up to 600°F. Hose sections may be quickly and effectively joined by threading the flared end of one section to the non-flared section of another."

Other ideas would be appreciated.

Flexible plastic drain hose works as long as you idle the engine. Rev the engine up and you will melt the hose. I let my truck (gas engine) idle for at least 30 min in each hole. Each woodchuck has two holes. They're very anti-social so you're only going to get one at a time this time of year. You'll also need the right size adapter to get a tight fit at the end of the exhaust pipe.

I use a piece of flex from the end of my downswept JD 5400 exhaust several times a year when using my woodsplitter. The temp doesnt effect the flex and the temp gauge doesnt run any hotter than normal.

Good luck,

Bill

I USE ANYHOUDRUS AMMONIA. TAKE A 4 FOOT PICE OF PIPE, ATTACH TO LIQUID WITHDREWAL ON TANK AND PUT IN ONE HOLE. FILL ALL OTHER HOLES WITH DIRT. GIVE IT A GOOD DOSE OF LIQUID AND NO MORE CRITTERS.

I read of a guy awhile back that tried to commit suicide in his garage. The car's emmissions didn't do the job. Maybe if he tried a John Deere..... lol Easy.

The tailpipe emissions of new vehicles is sometimes cleaner than the air the engine is breathing in. If you live in the Las Angeles basin etc.

Just heard a guy on the radio today, one of those "environmentally friendly" pest killers or Get-rid-of-ers. Anyways, for any rodents like the ones you have, he says to go to a health food store and get a bottle of REAL peppermint oil (not the extract from drug stores). Soak cotton balls in the oil and put the balls down the holes. He guarantees success but he didn't leave his phone number in case it doesn't work. He says this works for mice and all sorts of little critters of that type.

Most auto parts stores carry flexible exhaust pipe. It"s fairly cheap.
