I have to admit that anything electrical is my down fall so Im going to ask for some help. I have a wiring diagram of the tractor, but it is pretty crude. First off I am using a simple ignition switch that was a Accsessories,Batt, and Ignition on the back. Where would I hook the wire that is coming off the coil? Then I got to have a wire from the switch(where from) that goes over to the AMP guage. Where would this wire go? Positive or Neg? Then I have a wire from the Gen that needs to go up to the AMP gauge.Again witch would it be?Positive or Neg on the gauge? Last, but not least. There is a wire that is from the starter tat goes up to the AMP guage. Where does it go? Positive or Neg> I know this probably sounds confusing, but I don't know how else to say it. Any help would be graet!!! Thanks!

Given the ability of electricity to maim you then burn your tractor and shed to the ground. There is no shame in asking a pro to help. I might be able to chase electrons but need help with advanced welding and painting of any sort. A main disconnect at the battery. And a fuse as near the battery as possible on the circuit that supplies the ignition switch.

Jason, So many questions so little time lol.

Lets start with the ammeter: If youre at Negative Ground, the + Supply side needs a hot battery feed, and thats often taken from the post on the starter switch as it has a big cable leading direct to the hot + ungrounded battery post or it could be taken direct from the battery + post itself, I would use 12 Gauge red wire there. The ammeters + post only has one wire there.

Ammeters - Load Terminal: It has two wires, one down to the BAT terminal on a 3 or 4 terminal Voltage Regulator (often mounted to Generator) or the BAT terminal if it has a 2 wire cutout relay. (Use 12 Gauge red) The other feeds loads like lights and ignition via a switch, so it wires to the BAT input terminal on the switch and I would use 12 gauge.

Switch: It receives its input voltage from wiring its BAT terminal to the ammeters - load terminal (see above). Its IGNITION terminal is what feeds voltage to the + coil when switched to ON. The coils other - terminal wires to the distributor.

if youre at Positive Ground, the ammeter leads are reversed from above, i.e. - to battery/starter and + is the load side to BAT on switch and BAT on a Voltage Regulaotr or cutout relay. Also if at Pos ground, the coil leads are opposite from above, i.e. - gets power form switch and + wires to distributor.
