Anyone else ever do something incredibly stupid?

I did it again, ran the diesel (JD F935, 22 horse) out of fuel. I knew it was low, to make matters worse, it has dual tanks and the second tank is full, ouch!

My next door neighbor put 2 gal. of diesel in my Farmall M last night. This was after I told him to shut off the GAS at the filter when he shuts it down because I have a small fuel leak at the CARBURATOR. luckily there was a couple of gals. of gas in it already and we added 10 more to dilute it. It smoked for about 5-10 min before the diluted fuel got to the carb. Runs OK now but probably need to clean the plugs. Then he some how managed to snap the pto shaft. He's replacing that though.

I don't know? I've been asking around, but I can't find anyone that thinks I've done something stupid. Imagine that!

I keep running my JD 755 out of fuel but still had 1/4 to 1/2 in tank at times. I finally got smart and filled it everytime after I finished. I think that I was just picking up air from fuel sloshing around the pick up tube. I sure can fly with that mower when I mow sometimes I bet it looks like a NASCAR race, plus the added obstecal course of all the wifes and kids junk laying around. I'm about ready to add a frt. hyd. angle blade to just roll all the crap out of the way as I go.
