casey: I'm with you on that one. I remember when I bought my first skid steer. Dad saw me using it for many jobs we normally did with 560 and 2000 loader. He said, " You should conserve your skid steer, try and do more with the 560." One day he was out in yard loading some excess fill on dump truck with 560. I came around barn with Case 1737, and started loading on other side of truck. When all was done I had loaded 80% of the material. I said, " Still think I should use 560 more, this skid steer is designed for shuttle work, 560 is not." In 1975 replacing 560 with a new 766 and loader would have been about $18,000. CAD. I went out an bought a second Case 1737 for $8,600. and the 2000 loader came off the 560 forever. 560 went back to doing what it did best, baling, drilling, etc. No longer did it have a damn loader hanging on front every time one wanted to use it for something productive. A good new 60-70 hp tractor and loader will still cost you the price of two new 40-50 hp skid loaders. The skid loader will actually out work the tractor 4 to 1. on loader work. This has been the biggest curse across North America, guys wanting loaders on Farmalls, then they wanted better shifting, more user friendly controls for loader work, power shift, etc., etc., etc. The net result, tractor consumers destroyed the very best and most efficient drawbar or 3point tractor the North American farmer has ever known, namely a Row Crop, and Farmall was the very best.
