Mornin' guys,

Well, we are in our "monsoon" season, it appears.

Gots my tractors and equipment at the ready to throw in the alfalfa, seed is loaded and ready to go. Now, I'll have to play the waiting game fer the ground to dry out, I guess.

Good news is that all this rain will loosen that sod so that the plow can bite this fall.

Yep, I'd probably complain if I were hung with a new rope. :>)

Where you at, Kirk? Down near Tecumseh, we got 2 1/2" total - and some nice 70 degree temps, too! We needed it BAD!

now if you just would have went down to your local conservation district and rented a fancy no-till drill that alfalfa would be soaking up the rain and growing like weeds right now!

i've seen your tractors, your not cheap!

i'm not sure what your costs are but a no-till drill can be rented (atleast around here) for $5-6 an acre. one pass over the field. minus seed your gonna have alot more than that just in fuel and wear and tear on your equipment. your seed would be in and growing towards a better stand before winter. now your just twideling your thumbs waiting for the rain to end, ground to dry alittle and nothing is growing 'cept weeds. come on man, you gotta think profit!

lighten up Profit is what comes out of the sky to them satelittes on the roof.
This farm is what keeps uncle sam from getting all the profit. Also damn good stress reduction for Allen, he will need it with all the horses he will be taking care of.

Still no rain here in Chadwick, outside of Springfield, Mo. Getting tired of waking up to the sound of jackhammers every morning. The earthworms are still trying to dig holes to live it. Been feeding hay since July 1st. Haven"t mowed the yard since the first of June. The USDA is contemplating declaring 109 out of 114 counties a disaster area, and this is because of the drought, not because we"re in Missouri. Hehe. Anyway, I know some of you fellas went through this the last couple of years and this too shall pass. Glad to hear others are getting emough. Harley
