Is just me, or is everyone getting these class action lawsuit settlement notices? Yesterday, one regarding a financial investment company that overcharged on their shares for years. Today, one regarding an Iowa insurance company that converted from a mutual to a stock company without paying the owners (policy holders).
Both of these settlements are in the 100's of millions of dollars...makes you wonder what else is going on, that we don't hear about.
Big business just keeps rolling along, and rolling over the lil' guy!

GM's settlement on those side mounted fuel tanks on their pickups was a waste of time. I still have mine. As dangerous as it ever was. I couldn't afford a new one so's I could get a small discount on it. Betcha the lawyers got more'n I did!

After My Dad died, I got one of those class-action discounts in his mailbox. He had once owned an 86 Chevy truck.. It was good for a discount on a new GM product... I tossed it, I drive Dodges.. A guy I went to school with did die in a GM truck fire. Minor accident, but tank ruptured, fire started, & he was burned to death..

A few years ago in Illinois, a Chicago attorney filed one against McDonalds over dropping their Monopoly game. The deal was that persons in the security firm had figured out where and how to get the winning pieces (or whatever they were) and were getting to their friends. McDonalds found out about it, went to the authorities, the FBI got involved and asked McDonalds to cooperate by letting the game continue. Once they made the busts, McDonalds abruptly halted the game, explaining the situation. The Chicago attorney promptly filed a class action stating that folks only ate at McDonalds because of the Monopoly game. When interviewed, the attorney said that it only takes 20 people to sign on to a class action, which he rounded up. The suit was for millions, but never heard the outcome or out of court settlement. As I understand it, once a class action is settled, it takes anymore suits off of the table, including just ones, should there be such a thing.

Kraft foods went through one years ago when the company that printed the winning wrappers mistakenly made EVERYONE winners. It was an obvious mistake, but still, folks lined up to get their new autos, yaghts, or whatever they won, and since didn't get them, law suits.

No common sense anymore, lawyers sued to have it removed. And if you don't like what I just said, sue me.

Yeah, hundreds of millions of dollars and 50%-75% goes to the lawyers and the people that lost money get pennies - as posted below.

I was part of the Ford "class action" on their electronic ignition settlement - paid for the repair myself and was assured of reimbursement through the class action lawsuit - never saw a dime. If that's the payout I'd rather see a healthy American car company then a bunch of rich lawyers driving imports.

Funny you should mention that. I never got one -- till this week. Got one from Global Crossing about the settlement the crooked attorneys came down with a year ago. How unusual! Skipper

Starlink

Bank One credit card

Microsoft

Those are the three I have gotten in the past few years.

Look at the settlement amount - I got up to $200, the lawyers get 1/3 or so of the total....

Yea - I got a check last week for one I didn't know I was a part of - 40some cents. What a waste of a stamp. Today I got notice of another - not sure what it's about, probably someone had more than 1% in their lowfat ice cream or something really serious like that.

Why do you think the suit happened in the first place? These guys can rake in millions if they can get a million people involved in a class action. Then they get 30% or thereabouts and you and I get 40 cents.

Class action definitely pays..... ..... ....the law firms.

Happens every day.

In the Town Bar, a fellow farmer yelled out, Layers are axxholes, on the other end of the Bar, a guy yelled out, (I resent that!) the farmer yelled, Are You a Lawyer? the guy yelled -- NO, I'm an axxhole.....
