Yesterday morning, I go out to start cutting hay and my tractor has a flat rear tire. About 2 hours and a lot of dollars later, the tire repair truck leaves and I take off for a field about a mile down the road. I get two passes and the disc mower is making THAT noise – yep, bad lower bearing on one of the pots. I get back to the house and my wife says the TV is broken. I take a look and its way beyond my expertise. I’m going to town to get a bearing for the mower so I’ll swing into Wal-Mart, grab one, and head back to the house.
I get home, get my neighbor to help me haul the TV in, and my wife says, “Guess what”.
I’m thinking, NOW what’s broken???
She says, Reva called a few minutes ago”. (Reva is my brother’s wife) “She says the lump on her breast is not cancer – they can remove it at Same Day Surgery.”
I looked at my wife, not saying a thing. She asks, “what’s the matter.” “Nothing”, I say, but I’m thinking to myself – It could have been cancer – and it could have been you.
Let’s all try to keep things in perspective around here… take a little time to laugh.

I remember on day when I was a Kid, our dog got run over, as we were getting her in the car, my Dad called that he was out of gas, after taking the dog to an old guy that fixed up sick & hurt animals ( No vets In our area), we went & took gas to Dad, he put the can in his trunk, & locked the keys in it... He walked several miles home to get spare key.. finally, about dark, we were all home, The dog was even OK.. Our family often joked about that terrible day... really it was not so bad, we were all together, & things worked out OK.... Things like that are just minor inconveniences.... We had many darker days than that..

"There, but for the Grace of God, go I". Thank you for this beautiful day dear Father. My dad had his first heart attack when I was sixteen. With a substantial dairy farm to run, while he was convalescing, I got to be grown up real fast. One of the best lessons my father gave me was the joy of a sunrise. He taught me that eternal life was there for those who deserved it; but that here on earth no beauty could come closer than the sunrise showing us that one more day with our loved ones here was begining, and to be grateful for it. Savor and enjoy the day. Best, Phil

One day last week I left home at noon, and headed to town. Along the way there is a intersection 1 mile from our house where cross traffic stops. At 12:05 at that same intersection, a car from Iowa didn't heed the stop sign...collided with a pickup and horse trailer...3 good people lost their lives. I probably could have looked in my rearview mirror and saw that accident.
This week a friend and neighbor lost his life, when his tractor ran over him out in the hayfield. (See post below)
Everyday is a blessing...treasure them.
