Does any one know about how much horsepower would be required to run an 8 inch grain auger that is about 50 feet long. It would be at about 35-40 degree and is a 540 PTO.?

I used to own an 8 inch by 60 ft. Ran it with an H Farmall, had power to spare.

A friend of mine used to run one that size with an IHC Model C or a 200, didn't seem to work it hard. That was while unloading the bin so the auger was fairly low, I still think it would work even with the auger set steeper for the bin.

I'd think wet corn would give it a workout, but dry stuff should move pretty easily. In my part of the world moving 28% corn is not out of the question.....
