A guy I kinda sorta know was hauling a load of hay on a trailer behind his 1/2ton chevy w/ a wood flatbed on it. Supposedly the trailer wireing shorted and caught fire. I guess he started throwing hay off but he couldn't pitch fast enough. Lost his truck too because he didn't unhook it and just get it outta there. My dad once had an old chopper catch fire when a bearing went out and started dripping extremely hot grease on the dry straw underneath. I think he managed to unhook the wagon and pull away then unhook the chopper, saveing the 285. I don't think I was around yet when this happened...

Our local fire company got a call today for a trailer full of hay burning behind a residence. I'm on the Fire Police detail, so i got there to find a trailer full of hay, to be spread on the new lawn at the home! BURNING fiercely! It has been very hot here in W. PA. this week! Probably spontaneous combustion got it started. Burnt the whole load, and the trailer had nothing left but the frame and wheels! Fire truck had to cross the newly seeded lawn, because, whoever designed the driveway, didn't make curved curbs, just made a tight right hand curb turn that the truck couldn't negotiate! Rustyj

Couple teenagers were hauling a 5th wheel flatbed trailer loaded with straw thru a neighboring town when it caught fire & burned down. Probably smoking in the cab. Never admitted it. Left a pile of smoldering straw in the ditch for several days. Just happened there was a tractor with a front end loader handy, the FD used tp push the load off the trailer.

I have heard my uncle tell this story, many times... In the early 50's the hands were smoking as the rode to the barn on top of a wagon-load of cotton. They parked it in the barn... later that night, there was a fire. He lost the barn, cotton, a BO John Deere... They were able to pull my Dad's 8N out, only damage to it was burned tires...

My wifes brothers once set a wagon load of cotton on fire with firecrackers while on the way to the gin They got it out with minor damage, but their Dad was not amused.

This is where a good lawyer can come in and make the stupid fool pay for his ignorance and stupidity.

Sounds like you got something against recovering your losses after having your business destroyed.

If thats you attitude shame on you. Lawyers do have a place in this world - to protect us from idiots and criminals.

If I've inferred your position incorrectly, I apologize.

Our feed store burned about 7 am this morning. Its been there since the 40's. Also lost an old parrot in the fire. He's been there for 30 years himself. Still dont know what the cause is but its pretty well a total loss.

Different, but almost the same! I had a friend who drove a 1936 Ford roadster. One day, whilst driving around, looking debonaire, he tossed out a lit cigarette butt, and soon he had a fiery following! The butt caught in the folded down top material! He looked like a plane going down in flames! By the time somebody got his attention, the car was pretty well scorched, although it was still driveable! And, i've heard of some guy who tossed his cigarette butt out of his truck window, and the load caught fire! Anybody who blew their horn at him got the finger! by: Rustyj
