I have an old Huber tractor that I can't get the rear wheel off of. The wheel is splined on. Does anyone know any tricks to accomplishing this task. I have tried soaking it for about 3 months.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Otto

Leave the bolts just "loose" and go a head and use the tractor...keep a close eye on the wheel it shouldbreak loose....Don S.W.Ohio

If the splined shaft is straight, not tapered- and there is some room for the wheel to go further ON- use a solid steel shaft and BFH to move the wheel inward a bit- just enough to loosen it. Does more good than whacking the end of the axle. Then use a puller to remove the wheel. Heat or penetrant ahead of time is good too. Wax on the axle as it cools will seep between the stuck parts.

I will reply to your quest just because I see that no one else has.
I can not picture your set up in my head.
Can you send a digital picture.
I worked in a Auto scrap yard for 7 years so I know a few tricks but almost have to be there.
I know that when I had a stuck auto wheel on I would have a large pry bar (6 feet) and pry it off while rotating the wheel and at the same time heat ing the hub of the wheel with a torch.
The problem is that the torch will turn the metal to a different metal if it gets too hot in that place. Depends on the metal of the wheel that it is.
You could have somebody else with another torch or two to heat the outside of the wheel so that the whole wheel is heating up to help prevent carbon migration.
Some times it takes a lot of heat. A lot.
Some times it took so much heat that I would never trust the wheel again.
I would work back and forth with heating the entire wheel moderately and a large pry bar.
You may need 3 people.
How bout if you went to the local scrap yard and seen if a seasoned worker could come out and work at it.
I used have mechanics come to me and ask how to take stuck things apart. After all, thats what I did pretty much all the time. Take junk apart in a way that we could resell it.
Even though I was almost magic with them torches back then there was still things that were stuck together so thight that after about 4 hours I would just have to give up.
Good luck.

Loosen the retaining nut and drive it for a while. If you can find a good spot where a hydralic jack on its side can push without damage it would be worth a try. Put on some pressure and wack the end of the shaft thru a piece of hard wood with a sledge hammer.

Have you tried PBlaster. Or otherwise P B Blaster.Soak for a week and you should see results. A porta power also helps and some heat. Best way to heat I have found is with a weed burner you can keep heat more even around hub.
