I think I have been suckered in by Hollywood in an old sitcom, but as in Dirty Harry, I just gots to know. In the show Green Acres, the tractor is called a Hoyt-Clagwell, but it sure looks like a Fordson or Deere to me. Was there ever a tractor called Hoyt-Clagwell? I cannot find anything on one in my books. Go ahead and laugh, but you know how the darndest things bug you to death. Thanks

EDT stands for Essex Tri-Directional. Most details are classified and are covered by the Official Secrets Act of 1923. It is known that some ETDs were being used on experimental farms in the northern plains of Canada and the U.S. during the thirties but little else is known and individuals with first hand knowledge are quite closed mouthed.

And in keeping with the Official Secrets Act of 1923, any discussion of the ETD was banned on this board several years ago by the administrator. The whole situation was very curious , and was never fully aired because of restrictions on discussion imposed by the powers that be. I guess some things are just meant to be beyond the understanding of the "proletariate". . .

Ive seen Oliver Wendel's Gp John Deere, Eb working on an Allis of some sort and a Fordson..... The Hoyt Clagwell out performed them all. Gave him a good price on her.

Indy,

Here's some pictures of what they REALLY build in Fargo:

In "Green Acres", the "Hoyt-Clagwell" was alternately played by a Fordson and a Deere.

The real "Hoyt-Clagwell" was actually a 3-dimensional spin-off of the ETD, and surviving examples are REALLY RARE today.

I believe Allan in NE posted a while back there is one in a tree row next to his reecently-purchased farm.

Allan didn't say it was in a tree row, he said it was in a tree, and I'm still waiting on pictures.

The ETD is invisible in photographs, you know, and I imagine the Hoyt-Clagwell is the same- so don't hold your breath on those pics.
