This weekend I took my JD A model to a pull. It is an ATPA tractor pull but they let the farmers "Run what ya brung" from 4:30 to about 6:00 when they have to prep the track for the ATPA pullers. Well my friend Steve was going to bring his Oliver 66 but while he was changing the wheel spacing it fell off the jack stands. Lucky for him he was inside getting a drink, otherwise he could have been seriously hurt or killed. As it is the only major damage is a broken radiator housing. Saw soem good pulls and some not so good ones. Another friend, Chad, got second place with his JD 50, I got 7th or 8th after I fried my clutch. You know something is waaayyy wrong when the belt pulley is goin' but your rear wheels ain't. Overall had a good time. Thanks to all on this board who have helped me with the old '49 A gettin' her ready.
Stay safe out there.
Dave

Glad you placed, but I just can't personally fix things and put them to that kind of test. Same with cars. Guess I'm just a fix it if you have to kind of mechanic. Can't imagine having a race car and tearing the enging down every week. Definitely not my cup of tea.

Those antique tractor pulls are a surefire way to find out real quick what the'ol gal is made of. I was a bit disappointed the first time I hooked my old M to the sled, but I did find out what needed fixed, and did considerably better the next time. Still didn't win, but I didn't care, I still had fun.
