On the older hand cranked JDs there were 2 compression relief petcocks on the cylinders for starting. When the JD 2 cyl. went to the electric starter what happened then?

The electric starter had more power to crank the engine over than you had with the flywheel so you did't need to releave pressure for cranking, later models had just pipe plugs hid on bottom side of engine while inbetween models had the petcocks hid underneeth. if you had a low battery supposedly you could open them to get it started with that about dead battery

Some of the hand crankers didn't have compression reliefs, like the unstyled B and the H models. Some of the tractors like the A,& B when they had electric start option still had them the later models they were on the bottom instead of the sides.By the time the 20 series came out there were no more compression reliefs except on the diesels.
