Going to get a manual for the 530 i mentioned below.
I have the original owners manual. But need something with more detail.
Is one better than the other or is it two ways to say the same thing?

Just trying to learn
Harold

Each will cover the same thing in a different way and one may be more detailed than the other in what you need and each supplements the other. I would want both the factory and the IT as well as the parts and operators manuals for 4 manuals total and not the 3 that some receomend

Don't have a clue about the availability of a shop manual for a 530, but wouldn't be surprised. Aint gonna be cheap though. That I'm pretty certain of, from experience. I don't remember how I did it, but manuevered my way into online shop manuals at Mother Deere's one night, got out, never could find my way back in again. The Deere parts guy sold me a shop manual, $150. Online was free, however I managed it that one and only time.

Why did you pay $150.00 for a $30.00 manual? 1-800-522-7448

It manuals make an excellent rest to get the factory manual tipped up so you can read it and protect it from getting greasy. The IT manual is also good for propping doors and windows open. If you can't afford the real manuals and a torque wrench. You shouldn't be tinkering with it.

I bought a shop manual, an IT manual and a parts manual for my Ford. I use the shop manual the most. I use the parts manual for ordering parts, and a great back up for the shop manual as it has pictures! We all love pictures. The IT is great for quick reference, and I have used it to compare info in the big book. If you plan to keep the tractor IMO all 3 would be a good investment.

Shop (or Repair) Manual is better hands down. Also get you a Parts Manual, which will be very valuable to you upon reassembly work, as it will have the most detailed parts breakdown drawings.
Wouldn't own a tractor without all 3 manuals from the tractor mfg, Operator, Repair, Parts.

I don't think you will find a "factory" shop manual for a JD530. This is one case where be glad you can at least get an I&T book.

For a factory manual, call Deere direct at 1-800-522-7448, with credit card and serial number in hand.

Some dealers play dumb about the availability of these older manuals, and calling Deere TechPubs direct eliminates this.

Think you"ll be better served by the shop manual, as opposed with IT. IT manuals tend to be more general, and leave me scratching for more information. A skilled mechanic might be able to read between the lines.

I much prefer the shop manual. Best explantion I herard was IT manual for a repair shop that needed torque specs and other specs for low cost. Shop manual for somebody working on same equipment all the time. If you own the tractor or equipment asnd plan to keep it then get a shop manual. If repairing for somebody else then get an IT manual.
