I'm kind of a wanna-be farmer and do some custom stuff for neighbors. Well I cut some hay last week, then they raked it to soon so it didn't dry like I had planned(raked it same night I cut it. Then it rained the next two days. The hay is for horses, and it looks like it may have developed a little mold after the rain. I have a couple of beef that would eat it. I was wondering if I should trade some of my good hay(yet to be made)for the bad stuff, I sorta feel responsible. What would you guys do?

My outside activities are based upon the owner making the decisions. Then the liability is theirs.

When they say cut, I cut. If they rake it's their doings, not mine.

If the crop flops, it's their flop.

If you are in partership for part of the crop then you need to step in and help to make the decisions. If they don't agree with you, back out or charge for your services and take the money and go and buy your own hay.

who toldthem to rake it and who is raking it after the rain, they didn't have mower but rake? Anyway been there done that you need to have what is going tobe done in writing especially when it comes to some neighbors. It wasn't your fault they raked it. It is one of those deals where you try to keep peace and worki it out. I take you did the mowing free of charge or was it for some of the hay. It is one of those deals whrer you will justbhave to work throu it. I would not do anyhting with that neighbor till you are both clear with each other, especially if you are going to try to sell hay as that is your reputation being messed with.

I'd probably have compassion on them and trade but not bale for bale. Maybe half or something.
